Accessibility statement

This site has been designed with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, as a reference and a goal to reach. No formal audit has been carried out, so conformance with that level is not claimed.

What has been done so far

  • Alternative text on photographs: on the home page and listings it includes the series and an excerpt of the description; on the gallery thumbnails of each record it is generic text ("Photo N of the piece").
  • Colour contrast: main text on the ivory background is high (about 15:1), but some secondary grey text (about 3.3:1) falls short of the 4.5:1 minimum for level AA. To be fixed.
  • Photographs on each record are switched through ordinary links that can be focused with the keyboard. It has not been tested with a formal test suite.
  • Semantic heading structure and landmark regions (<nav>, <main>, <footer>) intended for screen readers; it has not been tested with them.
  • "Skip to content" link at the start of every page.

Known limitations

No external audit or testing with users of assistive technologies has been carried out. In addition, some catalogue pieces do not yet have their full photo session (this is explicitly noted on their record), which affects the amount of visual material available for that piece.
